Measuring User Experience

With scientific, validated, and standardized questionnaires, the success of user experience can be measured. Depending on the use case, short or comprehensive questionnaires can be used, for example. The obtained data can then be evaluated in a metric.

User interviews, questionnaires, or usability tests are methods to find out what users think. This way, either existing solutions can be evaluated or problem areas can be identified. The focus here is to find out how people currently proceed in order to develop tailored solutions.

Usability Evaluation

Evaluating a solution against 10 heuristics (rules of thumb) provides quick results and indicates where the greatest potential for improvements lies.

UX Workshop

In a workshop, awareness for the topic of User Experience can be raised and new solutions for problems can be found together.

Persona

Personas usually make rather abstract target groups more tangible. They usually consist of a profile, a short description, challenges, wishes or goals. In the team, they ensure a consistent understanding of for whom a solution should be developed.

A user journey map is an information graphic that shows the steps a user takes to accomplish a task or reach a goal. It also highlights the area before or after interacting with a solution.

Information architecture

The arrangement of data in digital products or solutions is made visible by an information architecture. A navigation architecture can additionally ensure that important information is found intuitively.

Wireframes

Wireframes or low-fidelity prototypes are basic structures in which content and features are sketched. The reduced design focuses on the essentials. User concepts can be validated with minimal time and effort.

Prototypes

High-fidelity prototypes contain all information (text, colors, fonts, icons, etc.) that should be implemented later in the development. Solutions can be tested with interactive prototypes (click dummies) in usability sessions with users before they go into development.

Design System

To ensure a consistent user experience for users, it helps to establish a design system. In a design system, components, patterns, and brand specificities are documented. This saves resources in the long term and reduces development costs.
